Byron 'to halve in size' through administration

Byron could close almost half of its remaining restaurants in its latest round of restructuring, according to reports.

Sky News has reported that 10 of the burger chain’s remaining 21 sites are to permanently shut through a pre-pack administration deal.

It is understood administrators at Interpath Advisory are advising the business and a sale could be completed in the next few days.

The process is Byron’s second brush with closures in under three years. Some 21 of the group’s 51 sites were bought out of administration by investment firm Calveton in July 2020 for £4m.

The burger chain, which was founded in 2007, was previously sold to private equity firm Hutton Collins for £100m in 2013.

Calveton runs Byron under the Famously Proper group alongside fried chicken brand Mother Clucker.

Famously Proper has been contacted for comment.
