Buzzworks sees 16% increase in turnover driven by new openings

Scottish restaurant and bar operator Buzzworks Holdings has reported a 15.6% rise in turnover from £12.8m to £14.8m following new openings and refurbishments.

For the 52 weeks ending April 2017, pre-tax profit also increased by 9.2% from £635,626 in 2016 to £694,248 in 2017 "despite sector challenges".

During the period, the company opened the Corner House in Kilwinning and pumped investment in its established restaurants including a £500,000 refurbishment of the flagship Scotts in Troon.

Since April 2017, Buzzworks has opened the Coach House in Bridge of Weir, its first outside of Ayrshire.

It aims to launch the Scotts at Port Edgar Marina in the East this summer.

The results also identified a 13% increase in employee numbers from 387 in 2016 to 438 in 2017 as it continues to invest in its in-house training academy.

“We move forward with cautious optimism as the sector continues to face challenges relating to increased supplier and staff costs however we have managed this well. We will continue to invest heavily in our people and bring them along on this exciting journey, whilst making sure our customers continue to enjoy world class hospitality at each of our venues.”

Buzzworks Holdings currently manages ten venues including: Elliots in Prestwick, Lido in Prestwick and Troon, Scotts in Troon and Largs, the Long House in Kilmarnock, the Mill House in Stewarton, the Tree House in Ayr, the Corner House in Kilwinning and the Coach House in Bridge of Weir.
