Gary Neville announces new restaurant concept for the Stock Exchange hotel

A family-run Manchester bar group is to take over the site occupied by Tom Kerridge’s Bull and Bear restaurant at the city’s Stock Exchange Hotel next year.

Bartender brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield said they wanted to create “one of the best restaurants in the north of England” in the space when it opens in February 2023.

It will be the first restaurant venture for the pair, who are also behind Schofield’s Bar and Atomeca in the city and launched the Sterling bar at the Stock Exchange hotel earlier this year.

Kerridge and the hotel’s owner, former footballer Gary Neville, announced last week that the Bull and Bear is to close from 1 January.

The new hotel restaurant, which is currently unnamed, is described as a British brasserie and will be led by head chef Joshua Reed-Cooper, who has worked at Stockport’s Where The Light Gets In and the French and Mana in Manchester.

Neville said: “Our aim at Stock Exchange Hotel is to create a destination venue in the heart of Manchester city-centre.

“The restaurant will add another dimension to the diverse offering at the hotel and we are looking forward to working with Joe, Daniel, James, Joshua and the team on this new venture.”

Joe Schofield said the move was the “natural next step” in the team’s hospitality career.

Further details on the restaurant will be announced in the coming weeks.

The hotel building originally opened as the Manchester stock exchange in 1906 and was relaunched by Neville's GG Hospitality in 2019.
