Buca Di Pizza joins Hull's Fruit Market

Independent pizzeria brand, Buca Di Pizza, is to join the line-up of restaurants in the £80m development of Hull's Fruit Market.

The 1,900 sq ft site is to undergo a £175,000 refurbishment.

It will be the fourth site for Buca Di Pizza, after Leeds, Manchester and Chapel Allerton. All sites offer a menu including classic pizza's alongside a range of Pizza Buca specialities including the snake charmer, which features Goan coconut curry sauce, chilli glazed paneer, lamb koftas, onion bhajis, grated carrot and beetroot with mint yoghurt, and the wing commander pizza that includes spicy tomato sauce, applewood smoked cheddar, pulled chicken wings, blue cheese sauce and spring onion.

Co-owner Nick Thornton, said: ‘The Fruit Market area is unique â€" it has such an interesting and very European feel.

"We’re retaining many of the original features, such as the tiled floor, and it will have a really lovely rustic feel.”

David Donkin, property director at Wykeland Group, added: “Buca Di Pizza is a great fit for the Fruit Market and the community of independent operators in and around Humber Street. It offers a relaxed, family-friendly dining experience and brings another new and distinctive element to the mix of leisure, retail, cultural and commercial uses that are making the Fruit Market a compelling new destination.”

The £80m transformation of the Fruit Market includes new and refurbished commercial, retail and leisure space centred on Humber Street. The commercial units will be complemented by a development of 101 new mews-style homes around private courtyards, due to start construction by the summer.
