At boiling point: how to beat stress and achieve optimum kitchen efficiency

Sponsored article by Brita Professional.

Hospitality workers dealt with 84 days of equipment breakdowns in 2020 – almost a quarter of the year!

  • Almost two thirds (62%) of professionals deal with equipment breakdowns fortnightly or more
  • Almost half of kitchen workers (47%) say having more reliable equipment would make their kitchen more practical and efficient

New research from BRITA Professional* has revealed that kitchen professionals are more stressed than ever. Even taking the implications of COVID-19 out of the equation, kitchen pressure has increased with 81% of professionals admitting to feeling stressed. What’s more, eight in ten professionals are bringing this stress home with them on a weekly basis.

Unreliable equipment remains a longstanding issue and a significant contributor to these stress levels in many kitchens. Half of kitchen workers say they need more reliable equipment to run a practical and efficient kitchen, especially with almost two thirds (62%) dealing with equipment breakdowns on a fortnightly basis.

If factors contributing to pressure in the kitchen are lowered, one in five kitchen staff believe they will have more time to focus on their passions, such as practicing new cooking techniques, helping to reduce stress levels.

The new research also reveals that looking at the year ahead, while hospitality professionals want more time to concentrate on what they love best, 75% of professionals also want to increase sustainability. The top ways in which hospitality workers want to achieve this is by focusing on equipment and energy efficiency (36%) followed by recycling more (34%) and reducing food waste (34%).

The research results are available in a new, free BRITA Professional toolkit, At Boiling Point: How to beat stress and achieve optimum kitchen efficiency, which offers vital tips on how to ‘filter out’ inefficiency and stress, as well as save time, money and the environment in 2021.

BRITA Managed Services can relieve the pressure of unnecessary equipment breakdowns by supporting operators with preventative maintenance. By offering tailored packages to suit the needs of your business, including monitoring filter usage and carrying out essential filter exchanges, kitchen professionals can rely on their equipment to have a longer life span and deliver a smooth service when they need it most.
