Brian van Oosten appointed general manager at Saltmoore in Yorkshire

Brian van Oosten has been named general manager at Saltmoore, the newly opened nature-based retreat in North Yorkshire.

 

He has over 30 years’ experience in the industry and joins Saltmoore from the Yorkshire-based Carlton Towers Estate, where he was estate director, overseeing the three-year renovation of the main hall and the establishment of a regenerative farming project in the surrounding area.

 

He was also deputy general manager at Grantley Hall in Yorkshire and worked across hotels such as Wynyard Hall, Hotel du Vin & Bistro Harrogate and the Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel & Spa.

 

Saltmoore launched in November last year and offers 72 bedrooms, a spa with treatment options from Wildsmith Skin and a series of F&B outlets, including a fine dining destination due to open early this year, led by chefs Adam Maddock and Tommy Banks.

 

The development was led by property firms O’Shea Group and Galliard Homes, and plans are in place to build 184 lodges over the next five years.

Van Oosten will be supported by deputy general manager Jayne Cartwright.

 

Room rates at Saltmoore start from £420 on the weekend and £350 midweek.
