Boutique business from Nathan Jones to be called the Hog hotel

The Suffolk property acquired by Nathan Jones, co-founder of contract caterer Harbour & Jones, is to reopen in May as the Hog hotel.

Located in Pakefield in the coastal town of Lowestoft, the 17-bedroom boutique hotel has been named after the hedgehog, the favourite animal of Jones's late father.

The property, previously known as Fishers hotel, was bought by Jones and his wife Sally in August 2018 off an asking price in excess of £675,000. It is now closed for refurbishment and will reopen with Jones's sister Cath heading the team, which is currently in the process of being recruited.

"When our father, who lived in Lowestoft for the last 30 years, passed away 12 months ago, we wanted to remember him in a cheerful tongue-in-cheek way." said Jones. "We had always planned to change the hotel name; this came up in a moment of madness and we all loved it."

The Hog hotel intends to support fund raising for a number of hedgehog charities.

Nathan Jones became a director of CH&Co following the agreement of a merger between the foodservice giant and Harbour & Jones in 2017. Sally Jones was previously sales and marketing director of Harbour & Jones.
