The freehold of the four-AA-star, 80-bedroom Connaught hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, has been sold to an unnamed private buyer off a guide price of £7m.
The Best Western Plus hotel has been under the ownership of Franklyn Hotels for more than 10 years.
A spokesperson for Franklyn Hotels commented that the owner is looking towards retirement and pursuing other business interests.
Along with conference and banqueting facilities and an indoor spa, the hotel's Blakes restaurant has been awarded two AA Rosettes.
The hotel occupies around one acre of land on the popular West Cliff area of Bournemouth and benefits from off-road car parking.
Franklyn Hotels also owns the Cranley hotel in London, the Gran Hotel Son Net in Mallorca and the Reignwood Pine Valley Golf Club & Resort in Beijing.
Niche hotel broker IHCA represented Franklyn Hotels. NJB Hotels & Leisure Property represented the private buyer.
Andrew Theobold of IHCA said: "The confidential sale of this prestigious hotel exemplifies the strong activity that we are experiencing for profitable, well presented provincial hotel businesses situated in strong trading locations such as Bournemouth."
