Bespoke Hotels has appointed Amy Windsor as general manager of its new four-star hotel in Coventry’s former Evening Telegraph offices, which is due to open later this year.
The Telegraph hotel, which is being developed by Complex Development Projects (CDP), will be operated by Bespoke and have 88 bedrooms, meeting and conference facilities, a rooftop bar, restaurant and duplex penthouse suites, and will retain many of the original 1950s features.
Following four years as general manager at Hallmark Hotels based in Birmingham, with responsibility for three hotels, Windsor will take on the position ahead of the hotel’s anticipated opening in autumn 2020.
Prior to her time at Hallmark, she spent five years working as general manager for Columba hotel in Inverness, which was operated by Bespoke. She started her career at Jarvis Hotels working in the food and beverage department, before working her way up to the role of general manager aged 27. She has also worked as general manager of Moorland Links Hotel in Plymouth.
Windsor said: “This hotel is being created in one of the city’s most iconic buildings, and to be a part of its birth is a real highlight of my career in the hotel industry.”
The hotel will begin recruiting for initial roles including the sales team and heads of department later this year.
Graham Marskell, managing director of Bespoke Hotels, said: “The Telegraph hotel is a major and very exciting project and comes at a time when Coventry will be the focus of national attention as UK City of Culture 2021, and we are delighted to welcome back Amy to help drive it forward.”
