Beaverbrook and Cadogan to open 'luxury townhouse retreat' in London's Chelsea next summer

Beaverbrook is to launch its first London property in partnership with Cadogan, in Chelsea, London, as part of an extensive £25m restoration of two Georgian townhouses.

The boutique properties on Sloane Street will serve as an outpost of the luxury country house hotel and golf club in Leatherhead, Surrey, and feature 14 luxury suites and a 60-cover gourmet Japanese restaurant and bar that will be open to the public. Its opening will create 55 jobs

The restaurant’s interior has been inspired by 19th-century artist Hokusai, best known as creator of the woodblock print series Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji and will look out onto Sloane Street with views of Cadogan Place Gardens.

The suites, all styled and named after celebrated and well-loved London theatres, are being designed by Nicola Harding, who designed the Rose hotel in Deal and the Mitre in Hampton Court.

Hugh Seaborn, chief executive of Cadogan, which manages 93 acres of Chelsea and Kensington property, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Beaverbrook, having selected them to operate this exciting hospitality opportunity on Sloane Street.

“We are working closely with Beaverbrook to create a timeless, English luxury hotel and restaurant in the heart of Chelsea to further expand the hotel, food and drink offering in the area, all of which contribute to the rich tapestry of uses that make this such a compelling destination.”

Joel Cadbury, co-founder, Beaverbrook, added: “We are very proud of what we have created with Beaverbrook and we are incredibly excited about the next stage of our adventure. The brands that we partner with are aspirational and industry leading and this partnership encapsulates that philosophy."

Cadogan’s partnership with Beaverbrook will be its fourth hotel collaboration alongside Belmond Cadogan Hotel, the first Hôtel Costes outside of Paris and 11 Cadogan Gardens, part of the Iconic Luxury Hotel collection.

Beaverbrook opened its luxury country house hotel and exclusive golf club near Leatherhead, Surrey, in August 2017.
