The Beaumont hotel in London to remain closed until spring

The Beaumont hotel in London is to remain closed until spring in order for improvement work to be carried out, including the development of 25 new bedrooms.

Operator Spartan Advisors has received planning permission to convert an adjoining building and will keep the hotel closed while the work is carried out. The period promises to be a problematic one for trading for London hotels as visitor numbers in the capital remain significantly depressed due to coronavirus.

The new rooms and meeting space will be contained in the art-deco, warehouse-style building behind the Beaumont, at 2 Providence Court, while two rooms in the existing building will also be converted into a large suite.

The Cub room, Magritte bar and Colony Grill room will also be refurbished, and the gym in the hotel spa will be extended.

The Beaumont said all staff would be retained throughout the temporary closure.

Ellerman Hotel Company, which is owned by the Barclay family, bought the leasehold of the property in 2018, four years after the hotel was opened by restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King. Grosvenor is the freeholder of the building.
