The Hand Picked Hotels group of country house hotels and spa resorts has named Audleys Wood hotel in Hampshire its Hotel of the Year.
The 72-bedroom hotel, situated within private grounds just outside Basingstoke, was selected from the group's portfolio of 19 hotels across the UK and the Channel Islands.
The accolade was presented to Richard Storey, general manager of Audleys Wood, during the annual awards ceremony held at last year's Hotel of the Year, New Hall Hotel & Spa in Birmingham.
Julia Hands, chairman and chief executive of Hand Picked Hotels, said: "In addition to achieving strong financial performance during the year, Richard and his team have demonstrated exceptional levels of guest care and attention to detail, which is evident from its high customer satisfaction scores, rave guest reviews and consistent repeat bookings."
Storey added: "This award underlines the expertise, dedication and passion within the team and I am extremely proud."
Audleys Wood features a two-AA-rosette restaurant, the Conservatory; function rooms for private dining and meetings; and a Garden Pavilion for weddings and events. Originally built as a private residence in 1880, it was converted into a hotel in 1986 and acquired by Hand Picked Hotels in 2008.
