Antonio Carluccio Foundation extends grants to £500,000

The Antonio Carluccio Foundation, established by the late restaurateur, will be awarding grants this year of up to £500,000 in response to the impact the coronavirus crisis has had on the hospitality industry.

The foundation aims to provide the resources, training and development needed by young and otherwise disadvantaged cooks and chefs entering the hospitality industry, and to support the work of charities and non-governmental organisations in alleviating hunger.

Funds will be available in support of emergency food and initiatives involving or benefitting the sector in the UK, as well as projects addressing the impact of COVID-19 in the UK and Italy.

In response to the crisis, the foundation has already donated £20,000 to the Clink’s new coronavirus-related Clink Graduates Emergency Fund, and £10,000 to St Petrock’s, which provides food and support to homeless and vulnerable people in Exeter.

Simon Kossoff, trustee and chief executive of the Antonio Carluccio Foundation said: “In these terribly difficult times we want to provide as much support as we can to challenge the impact of COVID-19 both here and Italy and we have no doubt that Antonio would have wanted the same.”

Organisations seeking support are invited to contact the trustees through the website.
