Former MasterChef: the Professionals champion Anton Piotrowski has been appointed head chef of the Rising Sun Inn in Lynmouth, Devon.

The move sees Piotrowski return to his hometown and the chef has expressed his excitement to work with local suppliers.

He said: “I can’t wait to join the team at the Rising Sun, I’ve always loved this quirky 14th century inn. I’m looking forward to working with the amazing suppliers in the area to source the finest ingredients from the sea and Exmoor and really put the Rising Sun on the map.”

Matt Clark, owner at the Rising Sun, added: “We’ve always had an excellent reputation for food at the Rising Sun but Anton’s exceptional, imaginative cooking will elevate our food offering beyond anything we’ve seen before. I think our customers will love Anton’s gastronomic twist on pub classics.”

Piotrowski was named joint MasterChef: The Professionals champion in 2012 and went on to earn a Michelin star while heading the kitchen of the Treby Arms in Sparkwell, Devon, where he remained until 2017.

He then worked at the Springer Spaniel in Treburley, Cornwall, and boutique hotel Glaizebrook House, in Devon, before opening his own restaurant, Röski, in Liverpool.

Röski gained a Michelin listing and rave reviews but closed suddenly last year. Praise heaped upon the restaurant included The Telegraph’s William Sitwell describing it as a “serial winner” and The Observer’s Jay Rayner proclaiming “lucky Liverpool”.

Röski did not respond to The Caterer when it was approached for comment at the time of its closure.
