André Garrett to leave Cliveden House to join Corinthia Hotel London as executive chef

Award-winning chef André Garrett is to leave Cliveden House where he has been executive chef for the past five years to take on the same role at the Corinthia Hotel London in January.

In his new position, Garrett will oversee all food and beverage operations across the five-red-AA star, 283-bedroom hotel, apart from Kerridge's Bar & Grill, which was opened to critical acclaim last month by two-Michelin-start chef Tom Kerridge in partnership with Corinthia.

He will be responsible for the Northall restaurant, which is to take a new culinary direction with a Mediterranean focus on fish and seafood, alongside banqueting, room service, afternoon tea, bar food, Spa and Garden lounge. Further details about plans for Northall and its new menu will be announced in the New Year.

Garrett, joined five-red-AA-star, 48-bedroom Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire, in 2013 after working in London for the Galvin brothers at Galvin at Windows at the Hilton on Park Lane and Orrery in Marylebone. He is the current holder of the Hotel Cateys' Hotel Chef of the Year (fewer than 250 covers) title, as well as being the winner of the Roux Scholarship in 2002 and holder of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts' infrequently bestowed Master of Culinary Arts accolade.

Thomas Kochs, managing director of the Corinthia, said: We are delighted to welcome André to our Corinthia family. André's appointment reinforces our commitment to create some of the finest food and drink experiences in the capital. Together, we look forward to bringing an exquisite new offering to our guests."

Garrett added: "Corinthia Hotel London celebrates exceptional food and drink, which is why I relished the opportunity to join this dynamic team. I am excited to return to London and to be working alongside Thomas on this new culinary direction."

Andrew Stembridge, executive director, Iconic Luxury Hotels, the owner and operator of Cliveden, said: "We've achieved so much at Cliveden over the past five years with André Garrett leading the hotel's gastronomic journey and we wish him huge success on his return to London in the New Year.

"Together with Paul O'Neill, Cliveden's head chef and fellow Roux Scholar, André has developed a really strong and talented kitchen brigade and we will use the next few weeks, whilst André remains at the helm to consider how we can best build on his success."
