Anca Paraschiv promoted to general manager at Lympstone Manor

Anca Paraschiv has been promoted from assistant general manager to general manager of Lympstone Manor in Devon, amidst a management restructure at the hotel ahead of new developments next year.

Paraschiv has been with chef-owner Michael Caines’ five-AA-star, 21-bedroom hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant near Exmouth for three years and is taking over from Scott Andrews, who departed the business earlier this month after three years in the role. Paraschiv previously worked with Caines at the Bath Priory hotel as restaurant manager before spending four years managing Sat Bains Restaurant with Rooms in Nottingham.

She said: “I am excited and grateful for such a wonderful opportunity. Being part of the Lympstone Manor team from the beginning has been an amazing journey so far and I can’t wait to see how this will continue.”

Caines added: “Firstly, I’d like to pay tribute and thank Scott for his service these past three incredible years, I wish him well in his future. Anca is one of those rare people that have the mix of determination, attention for detail and total commitment. She has proved over the past three years to be a very capable manager and her appointment to general manager is a natural progression and one that she thoroughly deserves.”

The business has also undergone a management restructure following a period of “considerable growth”, with several promotions within the team “paving the way for future developments planned for 2020”, which will be “revealed in the new year”.

These include Jordan Denning, former senior sous chef, who has been promoted to head chef having worked with Caines for more than nine years including at the former Royal Clarence hotel in Exeter and Gidleigh Park in Chagford, before joining Lympstone's opening team in 2017.

Steve Garrod has re-joined the team as assistant general manager, having left his restaurant manager position last year to spend a year at Bath College as a lecturer in hospitality; while guest services manager Emma Bowen has been promoted to the newly created position of operations manager.

Caines added: “Our business is all about people and seeing these young staff develop into these roles over the past two and half years fills me with pride. As a team we continue to work together to deliver exceptional service to all our guests, whilst promoting a culture that nurtures talent and develops their skills.”
