The American-style burger brand opened its first site in Manchester in 2012
Manchester-based burger brand Almost Famous has closed all of its restaurants as a result of mounting financial pressures.
At its peak, the business operated two sites in Manchester and one each in Liverpool and Leeds.
A statement on its website read: “The current economic climate has proven too challenging for us to overcome. The lingering debt from Covid, rising costs across every aspect of the business, and a tightening in people’s ability to spend on dining out have created an impossible situation.
“Despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to continue. Ironically, while our venues remain busy and our reviews are glowing, the financial pressures stacked against us have made it impossible to sustain the business- making this scenario even more heartbreaking.”
It added: “This isn’t how we wanted the story to end, but we are proud of everything we accomplished and the joy we brought to so many. And while we must say goodbye for now, we hold onto the hope that Almost Famous may return one day in some form.”
Almost Famous has also urged others in the industry with job opportunities to get in touch at famous.reachout@gmail.com to support staff.
The burger brand was founded by Beau Myers in 2012. Over the past 13 years, the team has served over a million burgers, including the Famous (double cheeseburger, salad stack, pickles, famous sauce, bacon ketchup) and the Phoenix (double cheeseburger, bacon, shoestring onions, frazzles, red chillies, redneck BBQ, bacon bacon mayo, bacon ketchup). It also offered five different types of fries.
In 2015, Almost Famous hit headlines amid reports a woman died from a suspected allergic reaction after eating at its Great Northern Warehouse branch.
