Alan Morgan to take over as CEO of GLH as Neil Gallagher resigns

Neil Gallagher has resigned as chief executive of GLH Hotels and will be replaced by Alan Morgan, who joins from the Rank Group.

Gallagher, who has been with the company for five years and was promoted from chief financial officer to CEO in 2016, will step down from 5 August. A handover period is planned.

He said: "I am very proud to have been a part of the GLH family for five years, overseeing the significant growth that we have achieved year on year. It is an exciting moment for GLH Hotels and for the hospitality sector, and it feels like the right time for someone else to lead the company into the next phase of our business development."

Morgan joins from UK-based gambling company the Rank Group, where he was retail managing director, having held roles in the hospitality sector including chief operating officer and commercial director of the Spirit Pub Company and regional operations director at Whitbread.

He said: "I am excited to join the fantastic, hard-working team at GLH Hotels. The organisation is primed for growth and I look forward to leading the company through new ventures. I wish Neil success in the future, and thank him for his years of service at GLH."

Founded in 2003 as Guoman Hotels, the company was rebranded as GLH Hotels in 2013. It has 17 hotels in London across its Guoman, Amba, Thistle, Hard Rock and Thistle Express brands. The group, a subsidiary of Singaporean-based company GuccoLeisure, relaunched the Cumberland hotel in London as the UK's first Hard Rock hotel in April, and is in the process of rebranding its Grosvenor hotel as Amba Victoria.
