The acclaimed restaurant is looking to open a larger central London site in 2025.
Nigerian tapas restaurant Chuku’s has launched a £500,000 fundraising campaign to support the opening of a second London site.
Siblings Emeka and Ifeyina Frederick have run a 35-seat restaurant in Tottenham since 2020 and are now looking to launch in a larger location in central London in 2025.
The pair aim to bring the Nigerian food they cook at home to a wider audience.
Despite opening just before the first coronavirus lockdown, Chuku’s has welcomed more than 50,000 diners, received positive reviews in the Evening Standard and The Guardian and even secured funding from singer Beyonce’s BeyGOOD Foundation.
The restaurant also runs a corporate catering arm that has worked with companies including Meta, Gymshark and the NHS.
The team has launched #TheChukus500campaign and is calling for anyone interested in backing the project to get in touch via their website.
Chuku’s original Tottenham site launched after a crowdfund raised £36,000 of a target of £30,000.
Before starting Chuku’s, Emeka left his job as a strategy consultant at Accenture to gain hospitality experience at brands including Honest Burgers, while Ifeyinwa worked in PR and marketing and spent time as an English language teacher in Martinique and France.
