The Pig hotels gain ethical B Corp status

The Pig hotel group has become the latest hospitality business to be certified as an ethical B Corp.

It means the company, which was founded in 2011 and has grown to nine hotels and one pub, has passed a rigorous audit of its environmental and social policies.

B Corp was founded in 2006 with the aim of inspiring people to use their businesses as a force for good.

It has grown to a network of 8,000 global businesses, including Pizza Pilgrims, Hawksmoor and Houston and Hawkes.

Tom Ross, chief executive of the Pig, said: “People and planet have always been at the heart of everything we do, ever since we opened the very first Pig in the New Forest 13 years ago.

“We know our main job at the Pigs is to make sure everyone has the most delicious, fun and relaxing time with us – but making responsible, thoughtful decisions to be a force for good is always at the forefront of our minds.

“We’re not saying we’re perfect. We know there’s more to do and we’re committed to help lead the way for the hospitality industry. B Corp isn’t about being the best – it’s about always working to be better.  You can be sure we’re up for the challenge.”

The award comes amid further expansion for the Pig, which is due to open The Pig – on the farm in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 2025 and the Pig at Groombridge Place in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in 2026.

Robin and Judy Hutson, who founded the business in 2011, announced today they are to retire from the business at the end of the year.
