Street Feast founder to relaunch site as Dalston Yard

The founder of Street Feast is set to launch Dalston Yard, a new food hall and events space in east London, on the former site of the original street food market this July.

Dominic Cools-Lartigue opened Street Feast in Dalston in 2012 to provide a platform for underground brands at the time, such as Smokestak, Bleecker Burger, Bao and Pizza Pilgrims.

Street Feast was dissolved in October 2022 and at its peak its sites included Giant Robot in Canary Wharf, Hawker House in Canada Water and Dinerama in Shoreditch.

The Dalston market is being replaced with 10 new kitchens that will feature a mixture of permanent restaurants such as the Butcher of Dalston and Andrew Clarke’s international chop house, as well as summer residences from Budgie Montoya and food writer and chef Gizzi Erskine.

Ice-cream from Chin Chin Labs and vegan Jamaican patties by Denai Moore will be available alongside African diasporic diner Brothers and Sisters, which will serve dishes such as Ethiopian asa kitfo (fish steak tartare) and Brazilian acaraje donuts.

The 27,000 sq ft Dalston Yard will also showcase seven bars, bottle shop Liquid Affairs, curated by mixologist Rich Woods, and bakehouse and wine bar Roseau.

The 2,500 sq ft Window Club will host film screenings, talks and wellbeing sessions, while live music will be available at the weekend from the likes of vinyl factory Phonica Records, radio station No Signal and music collective Eastern Margins.

The space has been adorned with large murals from artists like Joy Yamunsangie and Jazz Grant and is also set to include a co-working library and lounge from the autumn.

Cools-Lartigue said: “From Denai Moore to Andrew Clarke, Rich Woods to Ronan McKenzie and Phonica Records to Eastern Margins, Dalston Yard is designed to be a home for creators that represent the breadth of London’s cultural excellence.

“With Street Feast, back in 2012, I wanted to create a viable alternative to going to a pub or a restaurant. Now with the proliferation of food halls, I’m keen to move things on again with Dalston Yard and create a dynamic new cultural hospitality space that speaks to and reflects our communities, interests and values.”

Dalston Yard will open on 5 July.
