Kerb to open Holborn lunch market ahead of global expansion

Kerb is also due to open three global food halls in San Francisco, Copenhagen and Berlin over the next few years.

Kerb is set to launch a new weekly lunch market in London’s Holborn, with all profits going towards its incubator programme.

The group operates a permanent food hall in London’s Seven Dials Market and the National Theatre on the Southbank, as well as lunchtime stalls in London’s Farringdon, Blackfriars, Lambeth and the City of London.

Opening on 7 August, Kerb Holborn will use its profits to fund social enterprise arm, Kerb+, which gives people the chance to start their own street food business.

The nine-week inKERBator programme, which occurs quarterly, has so far produced over a hundred new street food concepts.

Kerb Holborn will operate every Wednesday at Hand Court with an initial line-up of seven traders, including Only Jerkin’, which serves Caribbean cuisine; Filligrillz, which offers Filipino BBQ; and Mexclub, which previously held a residence at Kerb National Theatre.

It will also be home to It’s All Gravy sandwiches; Ceylan Kothu Sri Lankan food; and Faté and Rice Bandits, both of whom are alumni of the inKERBator scheme.

Kerb was founded by Petra Barran and started as a pop-up market in London’s King’s Cross in 2012. It has since provided a platform for high-street famous brands such as Pizza Pilgrims, Bao and Bleecker Burger.

Kerb opened its first global food hall, Saluhall in San Francisco, this year and also is also due to launch in Copenhagen and Berlin over the next two years.

The group entered a partnership with Compass Group UK & Ireland in 2020.
