Unite hospitality has urged those who have been impacted by the closure of Doppio Malto Glasgow to get in touch.
Italian restaurant and brewhouse Doppio Malto in Glasgow has closed “unexpectedly” after three years of trading.
The restaurant, which was the first UK outpost for the Italian chain, announced on social media: “Doppio Malto has closed its doors in Glasgow. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of our journey and who found Un Posto Felice with us over the last three years.”
In response to the closure, hospitality trade union Unite posted on X: “Doppio Malto in Glasgow has closed unexpectedly after three years, leaving scores of workers out of a job. If you have been impacted by this please contact us directly for support and advice”.
Doppio Malto started in 2006 as a brewery in Erba, near Como, before developing its restaurant business in 2016 with the opening of its first site in Scalo Milano outlet. The first franchise launched in Verona in 2017.
The group has 21 restaurants across Italy and France. Following the closure of the Glasgow site, Doppio Malto Newcastle is the brand’s only branch in the UK.
