First Look: Virgin Hotels London Shoreditch

The property originally launched under Ennismore as the Mondrian Shoreditch and is still due to undergo a ‘phased transformation’ into a Virgin hotel.

Virgin Hotels London Shoreditch has officially opened its doors, less than two months after Virgin took over the management of the Mondrian Shoreditch.

The hotel opened as part of a long-term agreement between Virgin and Reuben Brothers, which owns the freehold of the property.

The hotel was previously managed by Ennismore and opened as Mondrian’s European flagship in 2021.

Virgin Hotels London Shoreditch has started a ‘phased transformation’ of the 120-bedroom hotel, which includes bringing the brand’s signature features, such as Sir Richard’s flat, its patented hybrid beds and its F&B concept Commons Club, into the space.

Guests can use the hotel’s existing facilities, including Spanish restaurant Bibo by chef Dani Garcia, Marlin’s Mediterranean restaurant, the rooftop bar and swimming pool, gym and treatment rooms run by Blue Marlin Ibiza.

Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin, said: “The UK is where the Virgin story all began, so it’s incredibly exciting to have another foothold in the city. Virgin Hotels was created to do things differently, and Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch is no exception.”

James Bermingham, chief executive of Virgin Hotels Collection, added: "This is the beginning of an exciting journey to bring our Virgin Hotels brand to life in this spectacular building and we can’t wait to share it with our guests and create some Virgin magic in Shoreditch."
