Chancery Rosewood announces four senior appointments

The Chancery Rosewood in London’s Mayfair has made a series of senior appointments in preparation for its opening in 2025.

It comes after Michael Bonsor was named managing director of the 144-room hotel, which is being developed in the Grade II-listed building that housed the US Embassy until 2017, last November.

The Chancery Rosewood marks Rosewood’s second opening in London, following the launch of the Rosewood London in Holborn in 2013.

The latest project, which was formerly home to London’s first purpose-built chancery, is owned by real estate developer Qatari Diar Europe and is being restored by British architect Sir David Chipperfield.

The new appointments include Jessica Tapfar as hotel manager; Kate Bowen as director of rooms; Martin Molloy as director of engineering and Massimiliano Ziano as director of culinary.

Tapfar was previously hotel director at the Ned City of London, while Bowen was most recently director of operations at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.

Meanwhile, Molloy has over 35 years’ experience in engineering and joins from the Bulgari hotel in London, where he was director of engineering.

Ziano also boasts a 30-year culinary career, having worked at properties including the Peninsula London, Tokyo and Hong Kong, as well as Park Hyatt in Seoul and Saigon.

"The Chancery Rosewood is poised to set new standards of luxury, and with their combined expertise in their respective divisions, the hotel will deliver an unparalleled guest experience.”

Once complete, the Chancery Rosewood will feature 10 restaurants and bars, an Asaya wellness facility, meeting and events spaces, retail outlets and a large ballroom.

It marks Rosewood Hotel & Resorts’ sixth property in Europe. The group manages over 30 hotels in 19 countries.
