The Pointer in Brill named 2018 Michelin Pub of the Year

The Pointer in Brill, Buckinghamshire, has been awarded the title of Michelin Pub of the Year 2018.

The 18th century inn won the Menu of the Year Catey in 2016 while under the helm of Mini Patel, who left the pub earlier this year. James Graham, formerly executive chef of Allium in Fairford, Gloucestershire, has been executive chef of the pub for the last two months.

The Pointer has been owned and operated by David and Fiona Howden since 2011 when they bought it from Greene King. The pub, described as "a delightful place" by Rebecca Burr, editor of the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs guide, beat 470 pubs across the UK and Ireland to the title.

Burr said: "It is exceedingly well run by a young, personable team. They really pay attention to detail and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The frequently changing à la carte menu offers a good range of modern dishes. Presentation is first rate, refinement and precision are there in equal measure, and much use is made of organic ingredients from their farm."

The Michelin Eating Out In Pubs 2018 guide is priced at £14.99 and can be purchased from bookshops and at http://travel.michelin.co.uk.
