Cucina wins schools contracts worth £1.8m
Education catering specialist Cucina has won two three-year contracts with a combined turnover of £1.8m.
Daily sales figures have increased by an average of 23% at Bexleyheath School in Kent, which has 1,700 pupils, and 14% at Shoeburyness High School in Essex, which has 2,000, since Cucina took over the contracts in January.
Steve Quinn, managing director of Cucina, said: "It's great to have happy clients who can see sales shooting up already. Our ‘stealthy eating' approach has helped us more than double the uptake of school dinners in our restaurants across England. It has also enabled our partner schools to significantly reduce their catering costs."
Mike Headon, Bexleyheath school business manager, said: "The quality of food Cucina produces is excellent and we are very satisfied with the all-round provision, including the high quality of the service. Cucina has really made a difference - within a couple of weeks of starting, the team were given a letter by a pupil to say thank you."
