Bolton Primary Care Trust caterer honoured at Soil Association Organic Food Awards
The Soil Association Organic Food Awards 2006 has named a member of Bolton Primary Care Trust joint winner of its Local Food Initiative.
Alan Brown was recognised for his efforts in helping colleagues to develop a home-grown food initiative in the local community. Together they helped locals find land for crops, organised training and assisted funding applications.
Brown ad his colleagues also organised cooking classes, a resource centre, and won funding for 10 schools to set up their own kitchen gardens for children.
Other categories in the awards, which were announced on 1 September, included Organic Producer of the Year and Box Scheme of the Year.
