Wadworth's Beer kitchen range pulls in diners at the Barge Inn

Wadworth pub the Barge Inn at Seend, Wiltshire, is a country pub set in an idyllic canal-side location. It is alive with great food and an enthusiastic staff.

Landlords Sarah and Paul Haynes try different ways of attracting new interest and boosting existing sales. The Beer Kitchen, Wadworth's new range of premium beers brewed specifically to accompany food, presented an opportunity to boost food and ale sales.

The range has been accompanying dishes on the pub's menu for about four months, together with tasting tips and recommendations for food and beer matching, which is drawing in ale-drinkers and food-lovers alike.

For customers to understand the concept of matching beers, the key factor has been to ensure that sufficient information has been at hand about the beers available.

Sarah Haynes said: "The beers are explained clearly on the beer menu and the staff are well briefed, which is key.

"Our customers have really enjoyed the new flavours and the way they work perfectly with the recommended foods. India Pale Ale is our best seller, closely followed by the Whisky Barrel."
