Vegware entire range now 100% compostable
Edinburgh-based eco-packaging firm Vegware has become the first UK packaging company whose entire range is 100% compostable and suitable for organics recycling.
Its portfolio of compostable catering disposables and take-away packaging has been completed with the launch of three new products for the food-to-go sector which include high heat-resistant cutlery, a soup container and lid, and an insulated coffee cup.
Compostable lines break down much more quickly than biodegradable products - typically in less than 180 days - and can be composted together with food waste to become compost, biogas or topsoil.
From April 2011, composting will become the cheaper option when landfill taxes rise to £56 per tonne.
Vegware offers a UK-wide composting collection service for mixed packaging and food waste.
