Premium Polish lagers from Pierhead
Drinks importer Pierhead Purchasing has expanded its range of speciality beers with two premium lagers - Brok Sambor and Brok Strong - from Polish market leader Brok-Strzelec SA Brewery. They will allow caterers to offer an alternative to mainstream lagers and to cater for the growing Polish community in the UK, which has attracted 600,000 new settlers since Poland joined the EU in 2004.
The two lagers have been produced in Koszalin, northern Poland, since 1874, and benefit from the use of local ingredients and traditional recipes, including the pure local water and hops grown close to the Baltic Sea.
Brok Strong, described as an "extra-quality supreme lager" is a full-bodied 7% abv drink with a bitter hop finish which makes an ideal accompaniment to schabowy (a Polish dish of breaded pork escalopes with saut‚d mushrooms).
The crisp, aromatic Brok Sambor works well with sledz, a herring fillet salad with dill, cucumber, potato and red onion. Both lagers are sold in 500ml bottles with an RRP of between £2.70 and £3.70 (Brok Sambor) or £2.80-£3.80 (Brok Strong).
They are packed 20 to the case and will form part of minimum orders of 10 cases (within the M25) or 15 cases (outside the M25), which can be a mix of Pierhead products.
