The scheme encourages non-food pubs to buy or lease a Peter's branded pie cabinet to sit on their bar counters. The simple, fully-supported package includes next-day delivery from one of the group's 10 depots anywhere in England and Wales, no minimum order, and the ability to extend the offer to fish, sausage, chips, bar snacks and breakfast items if requested.
"Food represents approximately 40% of sales for the UK's most successful pubs and our 'Pies for Pubs' programme has already illustrated just what a difference it can make," said Neil Court-Johnson, managing director of Peter's Food Service.
"It's simple to adopt, requires very little outlay and has full marketing support. It's already proving popular with punters in South Wales where we have piloted the scheme, with some recording sales of 300 pies in a month. At that rate, they could add £4,000 to £5,000 to their incomings."
"We have now made it possible for a landlord to make a 40% gross profit on a single pie priced at £1.99 and, in autumn, we will stretch this to 50% gross profit with a wider range of products."
Peter's Food Service has just signed a trading agreement with Punch Taverns, which has more than 6,500 pubs in its portfolio.
