Online food labelling solution scoops Sammies accolade
Its 'innovative' and 'flexible approach' to food labelling has won it the product equipment category of the New Sandwich Product Award in the 2014 Sammies, the annual award ceremony devised by the British Sandwich Association to celebrate the best of an industry worth £6.5b a year.
Tri-Label Online allows sandwich retailers to access a secure web portal to create and print their own food labels from any PC and printer. It is fully compliant with EU legislation and enables operators to quickly and easily adapt to changes in EU labelling regulations without needing to buy new software discs. The cost of the service is claimed to be considerably less than £1 per day.
The Sammies accolade comes hot on the heels of Tri-Label's crowning as Product Launch of the Year (Packaging and Disposables) at the Essential Café Trade Awards in March - where its parent company, food-to-go packaging specialist Tri-Star Packaging, was also named Distributor of the Year.
Kevin Curran, managing director of Tri-Label's parent company Tri-Star Packaging, said: "We already know that Tri-Label Online is something special that can make an enormous positive difference to the lives of sandwich retailers, contract caterers and food-to-go operators.
- "At Tri-Star, we don't introduce an innovation unless we know it will genuinely offer businesses a new and better way of doing things that will improve their efficiency and maximise their profits. Tri-Label Online meets these criteria perfectly, and winning these two awards back-to-back really showcases the enormous potential it has to revolutionise how cafés and other sandwich businesses approach labelling."
The ingredients category of the New Sandwich Product Award went to Newburn Bakehouse for its Warburtons gluten- and wheat -free fruity thins.
