New Christmas products: Vegan Mediterranean tart; boozy ice-cream; Iranian caviar
Central Foods has launched a vegan Mediterranean vegetable tart by Menuserve for Christmas menus. Its ready-to-bake, crisp basil pastry case is filled with a slow-roasted tomato sauce, topped with grilled courgettes, red and yellow peppers, red onions and cherry tomatoes and finished with a crunchy basil and pumpkin seed crumb.
Creed has a range of turkey joints on offer, including a butterfly lobe, which is easy to carve and serve with minimum wastage. Its dessert options include a gluten-free raspberry gin cheesecake and a black forest roulade.
Country Range has released four new desserts. There are three varieties of cheesecake: triple chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry, and salted caramel cheesecake and chocolate; and a fourth option of cherry mousse cake. All come frozen and pre-sliced.
Yorlife kefir ice-cream by Yorvale is produced on a farm in the heart of Yorkshire. The low-fat treat is created using kefir, a drink made by adding kefir grains to milk, which is full of good bacteria that helps to improve digestion and gut health. It's available in five-litre foodservice tubs in three flavours: natural, jaffa orange and sour cherry.
Popcorn Shed has released a goats' cheese-flavoured popcorn. Creamy, nutty and topped with cracked black pepper, it's suitable for vegetarians and gluten-free.
Speakeasy has released an innovative range of boozy ice-creams, including amaretto, limoncello, spiced rum and coffee liqueur.
For something a little lighter over the festive season, try Nature Shift's Perfectly Broken snackable chocolate thins. The snacks are available in three flavours – pretzel and sea salt, almond and sea salt, and raspberry and granola – available in 50g or 100g packs.
One of The Caterer's Product Excellence Awards winners, the Vinegar Shed, offers Pellas Organic Drops Greek extra-virgin olive oils in a range of flavours, including rosemary, lemon, garlic and basil.
Caspian Monarque offers Iranian caviar in three uniquetasting varieties, each from a different kind of sturgeon from the Caspian sea. There's Beluga, buttery, soft and delicate; Osetra, with a silky, oilier texture; and Sevruga, with its strong flavour and crunch.
Avlaki has launched its journey into foodservice with two single-terrain extra-virgin ‘finishing' olive oils from Avlaki Groves and Agatherí Groves, and another extra-virgin olive oil from Lesvos Groves, for more general use. The oils are bottled in the UK, unfiltered, and capture the aroma and taste of Greece.
Yorkshire Crisps has 11 flavours in its range, from twists on traditional favourites, such as Cheddar and caramelised onion chutney or Chardonnay wine vinegar to the innovative oyster, chilli and lemon or Henderson's Yorkshire Sauce.
