National Fish & Chip Award finalists take part in Norway study trip
The National Fish & Chip Awards 2015 finalists of the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award category are set to take part in an educational trip to Norway this month.
Courtesy of the Norwegian Seafood Council the top 10 finalists will visit the port city of Ålesund on the Norwegian west coast to discover and learn all about the supply chain of Frozen At Sea (FAS) fish from Norway to the UK.
They will have the chance to witness the whole fishing process; from catch to processing and filleting, and have an opportunity to learn about the science behind Norway's successful fishery management policies and practices.
Paul Williams, chief executive of Seafish, said: "We are so pleased that after undergoing a tough judging process we can offer the finalists a chance to attend this educational trip to one of the world's most sustainable fisheries.
"It is so important for not only finalists, but all businesses and individuals in our industry to learn about where our fish comes from.
"I hope this trip is a huge success and finalists return better informed about the sustainable seafood sourcing methods that are helping ensure that we can enjoy a good portion of fish and chips for years to come."
