Mars Foodservice launches #SocialChef workshops

Mars Foodservice has announced the launch of two #SocialChef workshops. The workshops will provide an introduction to social media and how it can be used to drive business.

The one-day events will demonstrate how to take the best food photographs and deal with challenging social media situations. The workshops came about following results from a recent survey, conducted by social media expert Digital Blonde on behalf of Mars Foodservice and the Craft Guild of Chefs, that found that while many chefs (92.5%) are social media savvy, 65.5% would value additional training.

A total of 90.1% of chefs agreed that social media was a great way to increase footfall to their establishment.

Sarah Gray, marketing manager for Mars Foodservice, said: "We are thrilled to acknowledge that chefs are the social media superstars of the hospitality industry. We want to help those who would like to become the #SocialChef of the future.

"Many chefs have already harnessed it with a mix of images and quick descriptions that are attracting followers, visitors and viewers to their virtual profile. We would like to help and encourage other chefs to join in with the workshops. Our #SocialChef days will include the use of hashtags, the pitfalls of social media, food photography on your phone, tips on live posting and creating a vine."
