Indian Alphonso mangoes from Wild Harvest

At 150g to 300g, they may be smaller than average but the yellow-skinned Indian Alphonso mangoes that have joined Wild Harvest's seasonal line-up are considered by many to be the king of mangoes. The yellow pulp, which is free of spongy tissues, is a rich source of the antioxidant vitamins A and C and is regarded as the sweetest and tastiest on the market. It's in season from April into May and can be used as a table fruit or made into juices, smoothies, jams, fruit cheeses, puddings, bakery fillings, ice-creams and yogurts. The mangoes cost £12 for a box of six.
