As pressure mounts for Britons to reduce over-consumption of salt, herbs and spices are moving into the foreground as exciting alternatives to seasoning dishes.
Country Range - a consortium of 14 independent food wholesalers - has published a new recipe book to showcase its comprehensive collection of more than 100 quality dried herbs, spices and seasonings from around the world. The line-up of basic commodities and finished products includes garlic salt, green peppercorns, saffron strands, tarragon, thyme and vanilla pods.
The new book includes flavour profiles of 10 less commonly used herbs and spices, along with suggested uses and pairings with other spices and 29 recipes featuring starters, main meals and desserts.
