Excellence in Food & Drink Awards 2011 opens to suppliers

The Caterer & Hotelkeeper Excellence in Food & Drink Awards have now opened for entries from suppliers who believe they are going that extra mile to help caterers triumph in this age of austerity.

Each best-of-category winner (except for the kids' awards) will then be considered for the overarching accolade of the Gold Excellence Award.

The prestige and commercial value of winning an excellence award has been underlined by two of http://www.excellenceinfoodanddrink.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">last year's winners](http://www.caterersearch.com/Articles/2010/12/17/336767/Excellence-in-Food-and-Drink-Awards-2010-the-winners.htm), including Emma Quinn, category manager at [Hellmann's - ](http://www.unileverfoodsolutions.co.uk/)whose Sesame Soy Vinaigrette took the Gold Excellence Award.

"The comments from the judges were extremely complementary and we were pleased that the balanced flavours and authentic taste of the Sesame Soy Vinaigrette were recognised," said Quinn. "The accolade has created a fantastic marketing opportunity for us and has given our ingredient the credibility and praise it deserves."

[Mighty Leaf Tea](http://www.mightyleafteas.co.uk) director Alan Mellor added, "We're very proud of our three silver awards in the Hot Beverages Category, and we use the Winners logos on all our literature. The awards are well known and respected throughout the industry and there's no question that they've helped us win a number of prestigious new accounts."

Taste, flavour, texture, aroma, ingredients, innovation, packaging, presentation, price, and nutritional value will all inform the verdicts of our judging panel, who will assess the shortlisted entries at Croydon College in the week commencing 25 July.
