Energy option on Winterhalter dishwashers

A new energy option on the Winterhalter GS 502 and GS 515 pass-through dishwashers is said to improve both energy usage and working conditions in the warewash area. The system recycles heat from the washwater steam to heat up the incoming cold water, releasing only cool, dry air into the atmosphere. According to Winterhalter, the system reduces the total energy load by up to 3kW and, on the GS 515, can save up to £450 in energy consumption a year. It claims the option will pay for itself within two years and over a typical lifetime of eight years will save the caterer more than 40,000kWh, worth £3,600 at current electricity prices. The cooler, less steamy climate it creates will make fewer demands on kitchen ventilation systems, bringing more energy and cost savings. The system also improves internal hygiene by preventing a build-up of steam in the hood in which bacteria could thrive.
