Destiny Foods puts the icing on over 16 million cakes after record year

Dessert and speciality food manufacturer Destiny Foods is celebrating a strong year of growth and investment across both its Manchester sites with the business set to achieve a turnover of £12 million in 2014, an increase of 15% on 2013.

More than 16 million cakes and speciality patisserie items have gone through its production facility this year, bound for customers across the hotel, sport and leisure sectors.

The North West-based business has invested more than £2million in state-of-the-art equipment and a site extension that will further increase the business's capacity. This includes a new high care production facility, ultrasonic portioning machines, and new rack ovens, which improve the overall baking capacity.

Richard Watts, managing director and founder of Destiny Foods, said: "We have experienced double digit growth in 2014 and our expectations for next year are even greater. The underlying improvement in the economy is a contributing factor; also, new sources of finance fuel hotel developments, city tourism continues to boom, and occupancy drives from the hospitality sector have helped drive sales.

"The ‘afternoon tea' factor has continued to help drive premium dessert sales. As our customers strive to stay ahead of the game, they are demanding innovation to help push added value offerings. "
