Cooked bacon from Southover Food

Cooked Smoked Back Bacon is the latest line from Brighton-based Southover Food Company, which claims to be the only distributor in the South of England to offer its own-brand meat.

The cooked bacon, which follows the success of Southover's own-brand gammons and cooked meats, is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to raw bacon for premises where space and facilities are at a premium.

The meat needs only a short burst in the microwave before serving. It is sourced from free-range pigs in England and traditionally oak-smoked at the dedicated company plant in East Sussex. It costs £50 for a minimum order of 5 x 1kg packs, said to be the same, slice for slice, as raw bacon.
