Colston Bassett wins a clutch of awards at International Cheese Awards
Colston Bassett Dairy has won the title of Supreme Champion at the International Cheese Awards, held in Nantwich, Cheshire.
The official presentation of prizes was announced this morning, and Billy Kevan, dairy manager for Colston Bassett was on hand to collect the trophies.
Alongside the Supreme Champion award, Colston Bassett was also awarded The Cathedral City Crown Stilton Trophy for the Best Stilton Cheese, The CHR Hensen Perpetual Challenge Trophy for the Best other Blue Veined Cheese, the title of Champion UK plus Gold for their Shropshire Blue cheese.
"We are thrilled to have won such an outstanding accolade," said Kevan.
"Achieving Supreme Champion at the Nantwich Show is recognition of the hard work by our team in delivering consistently good cheese - for almost one 101 years!
"After having won Supreme Champion recently at the Great Yorkshire Show, we are extremely pleased to be adding another prized title so quickly this year. It is an honour to be awarded this at the International Cheese Awards," he added.
The International Cheese Awards, now in it's 117th year is the largest cheese awards in the world. There were 4,443 entries this year - a record breaking number, from across the world.
