Brakes launches Pasta Pronto healthy meals quick-serve concept
Food service supplier http://www.brake.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Brakeshas unveiled its first fully branded concept with the launch of Pasta Pronto, a quick-serve, pop-up system for serving healthy, portioned pasta meals.
Caterers pre-cook the pasta, which is instantly refreshed on the brandedpasta stations that also keep the chilled sauces warm.
The meals are nutritionally balanced, meet 2012 FSA salt targets and include a special enriched pasta that meets strict school nutrition standards, so they can be served in education and healthcare outlets as well as work canteens, events catering and leisure outlets.
Caterers can choose to buy or sign a free-on-loan contract for a plug-and-play mobile trolley or a counter-top unit. The equipment measures out individual 200g portions of pasta and 100g of sauce per meal - with RRPs of between £1.70 and £1.90. They are served in 20oz branded cardboard cups that are ideal for eating on the hoof.
The food offer spans seven types of pasta made from 100% durum wheat: penne, fusilli, conchiglie, tricolour, farfelle, and wholemeal penne and fusilli; and 10 sauces: Tomato & Basil, Arrabiatta, Four Cheese, Tomato & Mascarpone, Mini Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, Bolognaise, Carbonara, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Chicken Tikka and BBQ Chicken.
Completing the package is free point-of-sale, such as posters, table menus, menu labels, and loyalty cards and stamps awarding a free meal for every eight purchased.
Brakes said that Pasta Pronto was designed to provide caterers with a measurable return over a short time period with minimum hassle during the economic downturn. "The brand is modern, young and fun, allowing caterers to freshen up their menu offer and create a real event at mealtimes," said Sally Sturley, head of food marketing at Brakes.
