Bidfood launches Christmas 2021 range with consumer insight

Bidfood has launched its Christmas 2021 range with insight from consumers as to what they "truly want from Christmas".

Of consumers questioned, 41% said Christmas 2021 "will be more important than ever for people to get together and celebrate with loved ones".

The research also suggests that operators should focus on the whole festive period this year, with nearly half of consumers (47%) saying they plan to dine out at least once per week in the run-up to Christmas Day.

Social get-togethers will be vital for operators to drive revenue, so Bidfood advises appealing to larger groups with appropriate seating arrangements, set menus, group discounts or individual sharing-style tapas options.

The majority of consumers said they will be looking for meals under £25 during the run-up to Christmas.

While traditional roast dinners remain popular, 27% of respondents said they were looking forward to trying dishes they wouldn't cook at home. Bidfood is catering to these demands with products such as its Premium Selection Dark & Stormy sticky rum and ginger pudding, while a festive starter platter could be created from crunchy fried sprouts with dips, cranberry and brie wontons and mini goose fat potatoes.

Of those surveyed, 64% said they were looking forward to a Christmas Day at home, which could provide continued opportunity for takeaway, delivery and premium meal kits.
