The Apollo roaster from Spitting Pig is claimed to be the cheapest hog roaster on the market, providing licensees and events caterers on a budget with an entry-level system that can cost less than £2,000.
The basic unit features two solid red doors, a toughened powder-coated base, two pneumatic tyres with a stand, and a stainless serving panel. It is available as a hog roaster for £1,950 (complete with hog tray, two machine sides and two brackets), as a spit roaster for £2,250 (with carving tray, pole with spit bits and motor), or as a combi roaster for £2,300.
Suitable for use indoors and out, the Apollo offers a number of extra options. These include a door with a viewing panel for an extra £75 plus VAT, four steerable wheels (£150 plus VAT), automated gas pilot light (£200 plus VAT) and a chicken spit attachment that can cook as many as 30 chickens at a time when used with the spit pole and attachments option (£295 plus VAT each).
