Anti-bacterial paint from Johnstone's Paint

A new paint coating from Johnstone's Paints is designed to inhibit the growth of E coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other harmful bacteria found in kitchens.

Japanese industry tests found that the Microbarr anti-bacterial coatings used on walls and surfaces eradicated 99.9% of bacteria within 18 hours. The coating, which contains silver ions to prevent bacteria from multiplying, cannot be removed by wiping or washing, enabling it to work continually.

The coatings are designed for use as part of a full hygiene programme in all areas where hygiene protection is required and where surfaces are prone to wear and tear.
