Airblade AB03 hand dryer from Dyson

The money-saving and ultra-hygienic Airblade AB03 hand dryer from Dyson is now available in a white finish in addition to the original grey. It will dry wet hands - which can spread up to 1,000 times more bacteria than dry hands - in just 10 seconds by blasting them with 400mph sheets of unheated air that scrape water from the skin like a windscreen wiper.

A HEPA filter cleans the air before it is blown on to the hands and drying is activated by inserting the hand rather than pushing a button. The casing is infused with anti-microbial additives that destroy 99% of surface microbes. The system is said to be 80% more efficient than warm dryers that rely on evaporation, and its construction from ABS polycarbonate gives it a lower carbon footprint than the first aluminium-based models.

Airblade is claimed to wipe £1,421 a year off the cost of a washroom that uses 200 paper towels a day. Airblade is the only hand dryer to be awarded the Carbon Reduction Label and hygiene certification from HACCP International, NSF International and the Royal Institute of Public Health. The AB03 costs £599 (excluding VAT) and comes with a five-year parts and one-year labour guarantee.
