Walk For Wellbeing raises £90,000 for Hospitality Action

The Walk For Wellbeing fundraising campaign has raised £90,000 for industry charity Hospitality Action.

The final cheque was presented to Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, on 10 November.

People from across the industry participated in the walks, which were held across the UK between 8 – 16 October. They had the option of joining a 20km walk in London, Birmingham, Manchester, or Glasgow or a ‘take part any time' challenge.

Funds will go towards supporting the mental, emotional and financial wellbeing of hospitality workers.

Craig Prentice, founder of UK hospitality talent partner, mum, and Walk For Wellbeing, said: "I'm in absolute awe of how people have rallied and got involved with this year's Walk For Wellbeing in support of Hospitality Action.

"In true hospitality spirit, people have come together to make great things happen. With a challenging few months ahead for the industry, it feels amazing to have raised £90,000. I would like to extend a huge thank you to everybody involved in this project and of course to those who walked and donated."

Lewis added: "In a time of uncertainty, it is encouraging to see that we can rely on our amazing supporters to go the extra mile to raise money for hospitality families facing crisis this winter."

Since 2020, Hospitality Action has awarded over 9,000 grants amounting to £2.8m, which is more than any other period in is 185-year history.

The charity recently reported a 30% increase in applications for financial support, with 35% of beneficiaries mentioning mental health issues in their submissions.
