Schloss Roxburghe, the luxury country estate in the Scottish Borders, is to join the Destination by Hyatt brand and become the brand's UK debut.
Hyatt announced that an affiliate had entered into a franchise agreement with the 12.18. Group.
The property was sold to 12.18. in 2018 and was expected to reopen in 2019 following a £30m redevelopment. The 22-bedroom property was brought to market for offers in excess of £3.25m.
The estate is anticipated to become a luxury retreat with the addition of 58 rooms and suites to the property's existing accommodations, as well as 12 cottages, expected to be complete by late 2022.
An additional 49 cottages will successively open until 2024, taking the estate's guestrooms and suites to a total of 20 rooms and suites in the main house, 58 in the the Estate House, and 61 cottages. A 6,458sq ft spa facility with two saunas and outdoor infinity pool will join the estate's existing amenities, including a purpose-built banqueting suite.
The countryside property has a history that dates from the 12th century and was formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe.
The newly expanded hotel and refurbished hotel will be operated by 12.18.'s hotel management arm. At the time the expansion was announced, it was understood a new culinary concept for the hotel was being developed in place of the Roux-run restaurant.
A release said that the relaunched property would have "two outstanding restaurants, three bars, and two lounges that will deliver home grown, locally sourced and seasonal Scottish produce".
